A Message from the President
The Charter for our Austin Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, also known as SAWA was given with the Mission of “Dedicated Women serving others by providing hope and help in the heart of Texas”. Our inaugural event was a luncheon in 2019 and as a result 57 women joined as Founding Members. Today we have over 115 current Active Members.
One of the unique characteristics of the women in our Auxillary is “intuition”, the ability to know and understand something without reasoning or proof. Frequently, we see this manifested when they see a need and begin working out how to meet that need. Each member has either a thought or an idea or the resources coupled with the desire to make it happen.
You have heard it said, “it takes a village”. SAWA, as an arm of Salvation Army, says, “it takes an Army”.
SAWA has formed committees to come along side the families at the Rathgeber Center with projects such as Angel Tree, Sunday school curriculum and activities such as Trunk or Treat, Easter baskets, end of school parties, fundraisers and flowers donated weekly by Westbank Florist to brighten their day, to name a few.
Jesus said, “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”. I invite you to become a part of the few and bring your unique God given intuition to help these families.
We invite you to join us to provide hope and help in the heart of Texas.
Blessings,
Cathy Present
